01/22/09 - Warning: Political Post

I do not use this blog as a place to share my political views. I wrote a post on my personal blog and I feel compelled to share it on this blog. I understand you come to not read about politics...but if this is helpful to anyone I must post it!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Progressives
Have you studied the Progressive movement? Friends, we MUST be informed. We must understand what's going on in America!
I didn't really know anything about this movement till last year. Our president is not a democrat, he's a progressive. Just watch the way he addressed the house..."To my progressive friends, To my republican friends."
Anyway, the more I study and learn about the progressives, the more I understand what's going on in America.
The progressive elite want total control. They want to control the internet. They want to control the radio. They want to control our health care. They want to control pretty much everything and anything. They believe in redistribution of wealth. They want God out of everything. They are socialists. They don't like the constitution. They want to make us more like France. They don't think the free market works. (why won't they allow health care insurance companies to cross state lines...this would drive down cost of insurance!?!)
By the way...why do they think, what they think, is the best for us! So prideful!
At this point we have progressives in control..Reid, Peolis, and Obama. This is why we've had so much massive spending and take over the past year. They believe in ramming it down people throats. Plus they want you to become so dependent on the government that they can control you...hence health care reform.
Also, I believe much of the mainstream media is progressive. They were almost crying over Scott Brown's win last night. Saying, "This is bad." Journalists aren't supposed to be bias!
So we saw a rising of people saying, "Wait a minute, stop spending money, we don't want this type of health care reform." What did the progressive do? They made fun of Americans calling us stupid, racist, uneducated, and baggers.
People are SICK and TIRED of behind closed door deals, selling votes for the health care bill, and the down right corruption in Washington.
Well Washington is SO out of touch with Americans and last night a Republican WON a Senate seat in Massachusetts! A deeply blue state turned red...do you understand what that says to all the nonprogressive democrats?
I believe there are progressives in both parties! We're not fighting Dems vs. Republicans...we're fighting against progressives in BOTH parties!
Today I am sure you'll hear some more moderate dems try to slow down the health care bill...why...they don't want to lose their precious seats come November. They're just playing a game.
I called my friend Bob last night to celebrate Brown's win. He was saying how he works with left leaning friends. I said, "Ask them: are you progressive or are you a democrat?" There's a difference.
So if you know left leaning friends...I do have a few myself we just don't discuss politics ...ask, "Are you progressive?" If they don't know what that means...then they don't realize that there's not a Dem in office, there's a progressive.
Last night Glenn Beck did the best 20 minutes of TV. If you want to understand this more, please watch the first two clips of the show: HERE
I am fired up about this election year. Illinois has it's primary Feb 2 and you can so clearly see progressives in both parties.
I don't often ask people to share my blog with their friends...but please spread the word. We're in a fight for our freedom and if we don't understand what we're fighting it makes our win nearly impossible!
01/21/10 - A week
Wow..I just realize it's been a week since I've posted.
My 2010 New Year Resolution is to get my house organized and what a project.
Every day I tackle a different project: toy room, boys bedroom toys, under the sink cabinet, top of the fridge, desk drawers, cookbooks...you get the idea.
I've been ruthless in getting rid of stuff we just don't need and let me tell you, it feels GREAT! It feels freeing to just give it away or throw it away.
We let stuff clutter our lives...we just have too much stuff. So this is such a welcome task for 2010. The more I get into my "projects" the more I get rid of stuff and the freer I feel!
How about your New Year's Resolution....are you on track still?
01/14/10 - Haiti
Have you seen the pictures of the destruction in Haiti? Oh my, the images are heart wrenching! What a catastrophe!
As we've all gotten more info on the destruction I've seen people share on facebook status and other blogs where we can send money.
Now, I'll be honest, I am skeptical when it comes to just writing a check to some organization. I think, a dollar for here, a dollar there and only a few dollars will make it's way to the people of Haiti.
But, I wanted to do something.
So I contacted an old friend, Holly. Her sister, Shelby Kennedy, passed away almost 5 years ago from cancer. I had the honor of meeting Shelby in 2000 and I worked side by side her on a mission trip to Mexico. Shelby had a heart and passion for the people of Haiti.
I asked her Holly, "If Shelby was alive where would she send money?" Her sister replied:
"Hi Heather, there is a Shelby Foundation in Haiti. It's through my parents ministry "Only a Servant". They go down and check on things several times a year. The Foundation sponsors feeding programs through schools run by pastors and friends that we and Shelby knew when we lived there. My brother Micah is going down next weekend to help and check on ... See Morethe schools, one of the schools is in the middle of Carfour which was the heart of the earthquake. We are really praying for Pastor Mark (the teacher there), his family and all of the students. I think Shelby would have been putting her money toward trying to get there to help. My brother Micah will be going there in her stead. If you would like to help sponsor him or some of the projects him and the Dr. he's traveling with will be doing that would be a blessing. "
If you are wanting to help Haiti, but what to know where your money is going, can I please suggest the Shelby Foundation. Let us all continue to pray for the people and missionaries of Haiti.
01/13/10 - The Fallacy Detective
I've recently read The Fallacy Detective by Nathaniel and Hans Bluedorn and was struck by the easy to understand 38 lessons on finding bad reasoning in arguments. As Christians we must be able to defend our faith by being able to detect faulty logic in agurments. This book is written in a way that makes it fun to study logic and I found many of the lessons helpful and insightful.
It's important to grow and use our minds. This book will give you "exercises" at the end of the lesson to help you really grasp the concepts. I would recommend this book for anyone who is hoping to have a better understanding of bad reasoning we encounter every day.
01/11/10 - Self Control
One of the fruits of the spirit is self-control. Policing oneself can be a very difficult task. As I've been thinking about self-control, I've realized it comes down to an issue of entitlement.
We feel entitled to another piece of cake.
We feel entitled to share that gossip.
We feel entitled to "me" time.
We feel entitled to balk authority.
We feel entitled to have our way.
We feel entitled to have a boy/girlfriend.
We feel entitled to be angry or bitter or unforgiving.
We feel entitled to be rude at those who offend us.
We feel entitled to our things being just as we want them.
We feel entitled to another hour of sleep.
We feel entitled to watch that movie or TV show.
We feel entitled to be mean.
We feel entitled to control others.
We feel entitled to manipulate.
We feel entitled to a divorce.
Basically we live in a culture that feels entitled!
But that's not how the bible calls us to live. We're called to live as slaves to Christ. Dying to our daily desires and wishes. We have no entitlement in the bible!
How I long to live with this type of self-control in my life!
01/07/10 - Cleaning House
Our goal in 2010 is to clean, organize, and purge every square inch of our house.
We're getting rid of the things we've not used in awhile, stuff we don't need, and just anything we feel we've hung on to for too long.
It feels great! We've not made too much progress, but slowly, day by day, we're cleaning. Today the goal is a basket of books that has sat untouched for over a year!
I pray that not only does my physical house get cleaned up this year, but that I allow God to examine, prune, and refine every square inch of my spiritual house!
Did you make any goals for 2010?
01/02/10 - Selflessness
I know I've talked about this before, but I feel like it bears repeating.
So often I hear singles lament about being single, but then I watch them live a completely self-centered life. It's all about them!
If you really desire to get married and you want to have a satisfying marriage then you must practice selflessness in your single years. You won't just be able to switch that selfishness off. It will be there, larking in the corner. You'll feel entitled to "me" time and you'll be discontent with when marriage and/or parenthood seems to demand your everything!
Philippians 2:3-4: Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others
