03/11/08 - Hardness of heart

This morning I spoke at a camping conference. I got there earlier enough to hear the main speaker.

He was sharing from the book of Psalms 95 where it says: Do not harden your heart (8).

He said that his working definition of hardening your heart is to be "disenchanted or disillusioned with God's timing."

Do not let your heart become hard, trust God's perfecting timing!

Something that helps me understand God's timing is understanding that it's not really about me AT ALL and it's actually not even about this life.

Further, God is ultimately going to do the thing that gets Him the most glory. I say if God gets the most glory with me staying single then let it be so. If He gets the most glory by me being married then let it be so. God is sovereign. He sees the whole picture. May we be willing to trust and love and be happy even when we don't understand.

I love this quote by John Piper: “God is most glorified in you when you are most satisfied in him in the midst of loss (not having), not prosperity (having)."

May I be most satisfied in Him. May I love Him even if I never receive the things I desire. May all of my life no matter the circumstances be for His Name and for His Glory. May God always get all the glory.
