Romans 8:8 says that we can not please God if we walk or are in the flesh! That's powerful. I long to please God, to make Him smile on my life and for Him to delight in my life.
But when I walk by the flesh I am unable to please Him.
Galatians 5:19 -21 states just some of the deeds of the flesh: immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmities, strife, jealousy, outburst of anger, disputes, dissensions, factions, envying, drunkenness, carousing.
Okay, so some of these words are not a part of our every day language so I looked up these verses in the Message bible: repetitive, loveless, cheap sex; a stinking accumulation of mental and emotional garbage; frenzied and joyless grabs for happiness; trinket gods; magic-show religion; paranoid loneliness; cutthroat competition; all-consuming-yet-never-satisfied wants; a brutal temper; an impotence to love or be loved; divided home and divided lives; small minded and lopsided pursuits; the vicious habit of depersonalizing everyone into a rival; uncontrolled and uncontrollable addictions; ugly parodies of community
WOW! What in that list hit home? We all have some of those flesh issues in our life.
I want to walk in the Spirit, to have: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.
May you walk more in the Spirit today, than in your own flesh!
